BRUCE ARNOTT

(1938 - 2018)

Bruce Arnott was a professional sculptor who worked mainly in cast bronze.

Arnott was also a Professor of Fine Art and Director of the Michaelis School of Fine Art, Cape Town, where he taught sculpture. He was a Life Fellow of the University of Cape Town and Emeritus Professor. Previously, he was Assistant Director at the South African National Gallery, and responsible for sculpture and prints and drawings.

Arnott is represented in public collections in South Africa, and has been awarded commissions in major centers in the country. He has exhibited widely; and has published books and many articles in his field.

Born in KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, Arnott studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town and did research at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London.
